# Seizing the sovereignty opening in Europe

Bloomberg on the European challengers to Palantir, as governments and industry look for sovereign alternatives.

Bloomberg looks at how Europe’s long-running push for digital sovereignty has taken on new urgency, as governments reconsider how much of their critical software they rely on US providers for. Palantir, whose platforms run across European intelligence, policing, health and defence, is at the centre of it.

The piece follows France’s decision to move its domestic intelligence agency off Palantir, with French firm ChapsVision named as the replacement, and similar moves under way or under review in Germany, Poland, the Netherlands and the UK. It also weighs the scale of the task, and the view of analysts and former officials that Europe’s alternatives still have ground to make up.

Arrakis is named among a new generation of challengers: two British startups co-founded by Palantir alumni, Arrakis and Valarian, both raised money in July to take on their former employer.
